Dog crates and kennels

Dog crates and kennels are very useful for many reasons.  They allow you to train new dogs and puppies, they keep dogs safe indoors and out, they are perfect for traveling with your pet, and they are necessary for those regular trips to the vet.  Getting the right dog crate and kennel requires a little work, as there are many things to consider.  But keeping your dog safe, happy, and healthy will be totally worth the effort.

One of the first things to consider when shopping for dog crates and kennels is the needs of your dog and yourself.  Is the dog crate just going to be for short trips to the groomer and pet hotel?  In these cases you can select a more basic dog crate to get the job done.  On the other hand, if you love to travel with your pooch or would like to use a dog kennel to help you train and protect your dog around and outside the house, then you’ll want something more advanced for your dog’s comfort and for your own convenience.

In addition to the basic dog crates and kennels that can be used for travel and training, there are many other ways to keep your dog corralled or transport them safely.  Yard pens can allow dogs to be outside with you, even if you don’t have a fenced yard.  These pens can be taken to the park, on camping trips, and many other places where your dog can run around and enjoy fresh air without getting into trouble.  Pet carriers are also a great option for dog owners who enjoy taking their pet out.  These crates are more like duffel bags where your dog can sit comfortably on trips to the park or across the country.

The other main thing to consider when shopping for dog crates and kennels is the size and breed of your dog.  Smaller dogs can make do with pet carriers and small crates, while larger dogs will need kennels and pens for safe transport and play.  Smaller breeds will appreciate a dog crate that is always available to them, because they often long for the safety of their own space.  And larger breeds might need to become familiar with their crate if you often have guests in your home that are uncomfortable around large animals.  Help your dog feel like their crate is their special spot and you’ll make both of your lives a lot easier.

Other types of animals can appreciate dog crates and kennels as well.  Get a crate for your cat and you’ll make taking them to see the vet so much easier.  Or put your rabbit in a pet carrier and take them around the neighborhood or to a nearby park for some fresh grass and a peek at the world.  Even ferrets and guinea pigs love to get out of the house and run around the yard in their own little dog pen.  Dog crates and kennels are versatile and make caring for and enjoying any pet easier and a lot more fun!
